What is fulfillment?
Fulfillment is the whole process of storing, picking, packing and delivering orders, plus handling returns and exchanges. An overseas warehouse holds stock in the destination country so orders can be delivered quickly within that country.
When should you use an overseas warehouse?
- Products that sell well and steadily, with predictable demand.
- When you need fast delivery to compete (for example, Amazon Prime).
- When you have enough volume to cover storage costs.
Direct shipping vs an overseas warehouse
When you are starting out or shipping one-off orders, shipping direct with ePacket is flexible and needs little capital. At larger scale, an overseas warehouse plus fulfillment lets you deliver faster.
Frequently asked questions
- How is fulfillment different from dropshipping?
- Fulfillment is the process of completing orders (in your own warehouse or through a 3PL); dropshipping is a model where you sell without holding stock and the supplier ships directly to the buyer.
- Do new sellers need an overseas warehouse?
- Usually not yet. Ship direct with ePacket until you have products that sell steadily.
